Hugh Ross: News

New Album or Just Rumor? - March 20, 2008

Everyone keeps asking me, “When will you release your second album?” and the answer invariably is, “When I find a spare seven thousand dollars laying around.” Well, unfortunately no one has dropped off any mysterious packages containing tax-free funding, but I have decided to do a second album. The new project, tentatively title "Tired of Waiting" will be a little more intimate and bluesy in form as it fits well with where I am musically and financially. For you hard-core rock and roll fans it will have a little more edge to the rock numbers than "Red Dye #5" did and to that end we are interviewing musicians right now. God willing and Jesus tarries we will see a release date of late 2008 or early 2009. I know it has been a long time coming and I am just as anxious as you are to hear what that rascal Hugh Ross has cooked up. With a little more patience "Tired of Waiting" will, hopefully, only be an album title sooner than you think.

Keep on rockin’,
Hugh

Lately? - June 20, 2007

Ok, so as we all probably know by now, I royally stink at keeping up with the PC stuff. I have not updated my web site or myspace page in months including gigs...ugh...I hate computers. Is it too much to ask that I am just allowed to rock like there's no tomorrow while someone else manages my life for me? Yeah, sounds lazy but hey that's the dream isn't it? Sing, play, and travel while some random guy (who hopefully doesn't steal more than neccessary from you) does all that paper and PC work? And I know you'll say, "Well then get a manager!" too which I reply, "Where?!" I don't know of anyplace that is willing to take on a weekend warrior musician/songwriter for hire and still take me seriously. Then again I haven't looked too terribly hard...I think I'm starting to see a pattern here. Anywho here's the deal; I want shows and I want them now. If you want me to sing, I am there. Just gimmie gas money, food stuffs, and that sweet liberator caffine and I am so there. Yeah, there is probably a better way to book than posting a note on myspace or emailing it to my ever wonderful fan base, but I am sick and tired of cold calling venues just to have them put me on the back burner till the last minute because they think of artists as disposable commodities who they can treat as an after thought when they wanna sell a few more mocha triple latte creames with extra yuppie sauce on the side. Do I sound jaded enough to be a rock star? Well, I'm working on it.

Let me know what you think or (more importantly) give me the heads up on a show.

Thanks and God bless,
Hugh

Been a while... - December 14, 2006

Boy am I bad at this whole journal thing! Though it has been a while I hope the people who read this enjoy it. The album is doing great and iTunes sales are on the rise. I am getting radio play in Belgium (don't ask even I don't understand how they found me) and I am getting ready to submit to publishing companies, management agencies, and radio stations after the first of the year. It is a little intimidating to think that folks will most likely judge my life's work based on a few songs from the CD but hopefully the work speaks for itself. But on a more cheery note Christmas is coming!

Man, I love this holiday. I get to spend hours agonizing over what to buy people that will show them I care about them but won't break the bank. Yippie...

Oh, well...I guess that's not what it's about anyway. To think that a baby being born over 2000 years ago would be cause for the whole world (well alot of it anyway) to celebrate is just...amazing. I know I'm grateful He was though.

Well that's enough typing for me. To everybody out there reading this have a great Christmas (even if you celebrate otherwise) and God love ya.

Under the Weather - October 4, 2006

Sorry to all of those who cam out to hear Antares and I sing duets on Sept. 29th. I was so sick that she had to do half of the set all by herself. What a trooper though. She really came through. The new duet set is scheduled for October 27th so I hope I can see all of you there. Till then (or till my next journal entry whichever is first) See Ya!

Album Party Review - May 15, 2006

Hello all you happy people!

Well the release party/concert was a smashing success. There was a large crowd and CDs were selling left and right. OK so we only sold a few but hey the day before the party we unloaded almost seventy CDs! I know that I was technically not supposed to sell them before the party but that kind of sales average isn’t bad at all for an independent artist (;0P On the list of names that I would like to drop that were there were album producer extraordinaire Hunter Wentzler and singing sensation Antares J. Barr! Not to mention the droves of folks that I didn’t know. My lovely wife Lisa (hi honey!) worked the sales desk and I did my thing behind the mic. The performance was rockin’ if I do say so myself and the buzz is certainly started about this album. With the help of all of you good folks out there in fan land (and a little prayer) we may be well on our way to a second album.

Check out my calendar occasionally for upcoming shows and help get the word out there about this CD. With all of you helping out even a little we can make this a best seller and show the big boys what it’s all about…the music.

On that note why don’t you stop by the Java Therapy Café at 223 East Main St. in Jersey Shore, PA at 8 p.m. on May 19th. That place is nice and relaxing and with me behind the mic. it’ll be easy on the ears too. Hope to see you there and bring a friend.

Sincerely,
Hugh Ross
